By January 2024, I was beyond fed up. I was so sick of FRIEND taking up space, sick of his loudness, sick of his cockiness, sick of his entitled attitude, and disgusted at the sight of his plaque-covered teeth. I had already yelled at him a few times just for being vile but the worst one was when I was in the bathroom and heard him yelling at Juju, calling her a psychotic bitch, and telling her she was going to kill herself. I burst into that room and let him have it. Juju was pregnant! The hormones get pretty wild at around 5 months pregnant. That’s when you begin to transition to the third trimester. Had he gone to more than just the first appointment, he would have known this. And Juju still couldn’t see it! And he left shortly after.
I remember the early morning he left very well. Early the day before, My Heaven askedd me to go with him on an out of town trip to pick up a Frenchmen that had been injured and abandoned on the streets. I told him that as long as he had me back by 5:00 AM so I could make sure Frend left I would go. So we went.
It had been barely a month since my adventures with My Heaven began, and even he could see through the charade, My Heaven would constantly ask why it was always Juju either taking out the trash or chasing her dog when he got lose, every time we pulled up after having gone somewhere. Juju was a severe high-risk pregnancy; when I was not present, Friend should have been taking care of things. He should have been taking care of things when I was present, considering that I was the only one working.
After making sure that Friend left, I slept, and it felt amazing!
The months following were so much better. I was buying everything Emrys would need. I wwas saving. Juju was coming out of her room, talking to her friends again, and smiling! It had been months since I had seen her smile. And I said, “He will not see Emrys be born.” And no matter how much Juju tried to convince me otherwise, I continued to say, “He will not see Emrys be born.” I had already seen that, as well as the ending that I did not want to face. The ending that left me broken.
